The occasion

A milestone that called for more than a dinner reservation.

Eighty years deserves a night with a sense of occasion. The family wanted elegance, real music, and an evening where the guest of honor could simply enjoy being celebrated.

The setting did its part. Cliff Bell’s has been part of Detroit nightlife since 1935 — mahogany, brass, a sunburst stage, and the kind of atmosphere you can’t rent by the hour anywhere else.

Three months after putting thousands on the riverfront, the same J3 team produced a night built for a single guest of honor and the people closest to them.

What J3 did

Every detail, handled.

A landmark Detroit jazz club, set with white linen and candlelight, with sightlines to the stage from every table.

Three acts in one evening — a pianist, a vocalist fronting a live band, and a flutist — programmed to move from dinner into celebration.

A tableside serenade for the guest of honor before the vocalist joined the band on stage.
